Surprise! Ad blocking may not be completely legal...

It appears that the ad blocking wars are heating up.

There are massive fortunes at stake, and you are fooling yourself if you think that advertisers and ad network owners will just sit back and let it happen without making any effort to defend their markets and income.

Having said that, I don't know if there is any merit in the claims I've seen. This kind of battle has been waged before, with no clear outcome (we still have our DVRs, don't we?)

Stay tuned, it's going to be an interesting show.

I find it absurd...

This kind of thing just makes me angry. We should have freedom of choice, freedom of information and freedom not to be spammed with extremely annoying banner advertising when on the internet.

I for one am sick to death of advertising and I think the whole world has gone advertising mad.

"Freedom of information" - hah!

Um, who's paying for the 'free information' you see on this and other sites carrying ads? Feel free to make your own value judgments about the site content, but please, let's not pretend that information is 'free'.

I for one am sick to death of people wanting everything for free. Especially when it requires the work of others. Welcome to the new socialist workers' paradise!

Freedom of information! Too funny!
